DIAMOND DEL'S GEM MINING EXPERIENCE HAS EXPANDED FOR MORE LEARNING & FUN!
One of the most exciting experiences at CMSC is a visit to the musem's 18ft. flume where you can mine for rocks, minerals and gemstones. Children of all ages love discovering gemstones as the flume washes water over their sieves to unearth a variety of rocks, minerals, and gemstones.
FOSSILS HAVE ARRIVED! Now, you can pan for fossils in the flume! Kids will delight at finding various types of fossils including coral, sea clams, whale bones, fossilized shark teeth, rare trilobites, and dinosaur bone fragments!
So whether you like to mine for gemstones or pan for fossils, our 18 ft. water flume will surely delight even the youngest child in your family! Remember, you get to keep what you find! We'll even provide a color coded reference chart so you can properly identify everything once you get home! Cost of Gem Mining or Panning for Fossils is only $5.00 with paid admission to the museum.
